We are inviting Volunteer Professional Nurses to join our Patient Care Team.  Your responsibility will be to assist with weekend call duty and attend 1 monthly medical meeting which will include in-service-training.

You will be on call one weekend every 4 to 5 weeks. Friday morning around 08h00 you will be joining Sr Elsa Swanepoel, our Nursing Service Coordinator, on  home visits and assist with our patient care plan and reports.  From lunch time you will be on call for the weekend to help patients if urgent assistance is needed. Often telephonic support is sufficient and it is seldom necessary to go to the patient’s home.

Monday morning, you will meet Sr Elsa for hand over and once more join her on patient rounds and writing of reports.

Please note, you will be provided adequate training and there will always be the support of a Professional Nurse if required.

The Medical Meeting and in-service-training is normally the second Thursday of the month from 10h00 till 12h00.

We often require help with fundraising projects and events, and we welcome offers of creative input and services ‘behind the scenes’.

Over the course of the year, we run various fundraising initiatives that could require assistance in various forms from baking of goods, to assisting with sales on market days.

If this is something that interests you, please get in touch using the contact form provided, or give us a call.

There are a number of other areas where we require assistance.

When we resume our Wednesday morning support group onsite, we will need reliable drivers who can help on a regular basis with transporting the elderly to and from Hospice House.

Various projects are in the planning stages that will require the assistance and services of community members. Please visit our projects page for more information.
